The Nokia 7280 (Reviews)

A sleek and a stylish handset discovered by Nokia- NOKIA 7280. The handset is very thin and looks totally different as compared to other ordinary handsets. It is a look-alike of the phones that were introduced in the early 19th century. The handset is small and light, designed in a pleasant manner.

It operates with Tri-Band GSM 900/1800/1900 like most of the newly introduced phones-Nokia 3230, Nokia 8800 and many more. It weighs only 84g only which shows that Nokia 7280 is not at all heavy enabling the user to carry the phone as comfortably as one can. It measures 115 x 32 x 19mm; 64cc. The active slide used to answer and end calls, to slide open, revealing the hidden camera and the red glow display shows that the handset is uniquely designed. The phone is fixed up with a rotator that poses as any form of light during complete darkness. There are no number keys; only select, send, end including two more soft keys. The display supports up to 65,536 colors within 104x208 pixels. The phone also reveals 0.3 megapixel digital camera whilst in the open mode. The user can SMS and MMS with AMR voice clips. That is an integrated VGA camera whose images are quite clear.

The connectivity and data transfer is well equipped, Nokia 7280 helps with HSCSD and EGPRS for high-speed data connectivity. There is mobile broadband access with upload up to 118.4 kbps and download up to 236.8 kbps along with EDGE. Also includes Bluetooth wireless technology, infrared (IrDA port), XHTML browser and Nokia PC suite. The handset provides SyncML for routine synchronization. Apart from this Nokia collector supports synchronization with Apple for photos, audio files and video clips.

The phone facilitates download of tones, themes, screensavers and wallpapers. It is bundled with Voice-activated user interface, internal handsfree speaker for group calls. The other features it consists are polyphonic ring tones(MIDI), Integrated FM radio and Internal antenna.

The 7280 has a so so messaging, the Nokia 7280 has a very poor text input. It proves that it is better to call instead of messaging because messaging leads to impatience and irritation. Due to the absense of the keypad, the texts can only be typed through the rotator wherein the user shall rotate the scroller until he reaches a desired character and then click to add the character. Imagine the time consumed in typing a big SMS!

However, the voice quality of the phone is satisfactory. As per the sources, the 7280 stands 1 hour of talk time and 2 days of standby time only. The battery life is comparatively very short. So, here is Nokia 7280 which is recommended only for rare use. It is a stylish piece which attracts users because of its different looks.
